About The Upanishads. The Upanishads, the earliest of which were composed in Sanskrit between and bce by sages and poets, form part of the Vedas – the sacred and ancient scriptures that are the basis of the Hindu religion. Each Upanishad, or lesson, takes up a theme ranging from the attainment of spiritual bliss to karma and rebirth, and collectively they are meditations on life. Original Christianity–which was rooted in the upanishads–taught that the Divine Light “was the light of men. the true Light, which lighteth every man” (John , 9) without exception. That Light cannot be alienated from us, but is ever the essence of our existence, making us “the children of light” (John ).

The Upanishads are an expression of the intimate discoveries of early masters of meditation and philosophy, hundreds of years before the Buddha lived on earth. Although there are variations among the eastern mystic religions and philosophies, the Upanishads are a clear indication of their common ancestry, demonstrating what the religions have.   Online shopping for Upanishads - Hinduism from a great selection at Books Store.4/5.
